press to...START

"Spring and easter is all about new beginnings.Let's create a new chapter, let's just...start."

Getting back into writing  has been somewhat of a task for me over the past few years. In the past, I’d get pumped and excited to share my thoughts with people and I would end up writing pieces that resonated, at least back then, with a group of loyal readers. Now, a cocktail of procrastination, doubt and probably acute laziness sets in and I freeze. I’ve decided to take my own advice and just START. As I’m typing this out sitting in a well-lit, climate controlled lounge, in Lagos ( 355 , check it out if you’re ever here) Im  not entirely sure of the direction I’m going with this spiel. As I continue to hit the keys, I’m more impressed with the fact that I’m still going, still fighting to speak and live my truth not only in this moment, but in most of the moments I’ve experienced during this 5-year writer’s-block.

I understand that environment has a lot to do with ones creativity, so what is it about my immediate surroundings that has hindered me from writing or speaking freely? Am I worried that there will be criticism of my point of view or opinions? Or, am I merely afraid to live as loudly as I possibly can.

“ If I don’t write about it, then maybe I can pretend its not real”. The dissociation is real. As dramatic as it may seem to some, true creatives understand the tension when one feels like a part of their creativity is blocked. Its an almost physical sensation. It feels like a part of you is stuffed or closed off and that tension lies in the crux, between who you know you are capable of being and who you are now.

Either way, as I’m still writing, at this point in this piece, I’m not sure where I’m going with this. Maybe this breakthrough of finally putting down thoughts to text will lead to something extremely glorious, or maybe it won’t. One thing I know for sure, is that, any outcome that I want for myself, in this life, can only be achieved if I just..START.
Spring and easter is all about new beginnings, its time to create a new chapter.

Looking forward to sharing more with you,

xoxo

Pastels are always a plus for spring, and also the unofficially official go-to-palette for an easter outfit. This is actually the first timeI wore a suit and sneakers. Beacause Im extra AF, i like my sneakers quite unorthodox. These white leather converses were a gift from my dear friend Rich Fumani.
