Music is The Heart Singing. *Anahata*

Music has always been my go-to. As an empath, I always  tend to have a myriad of thoughts and feelings that i cannot necessarily put into words. Some of these emotions belong to me. Others, are a result of the people around me.

I wasn't necessarily the most expressive child. I could not connect. Not with my peers. Not with my family. I didn't have the right words to use. I was incredibly mature for my age and I figured out my emotional intelligence a long time ago. Yet, i still couldn't put any of these complexities into words. So i turned to music and lyrics.

Through different songs, artists and lyrics, I've been able to self medicate and apply words to the often intricate and too-difficult-to-explain thoughts I  have. It could be a line, a word or a whole song, either way, music has been my saving grace; my journal of sorts.

It has been the only tool to express what goes on in my anahata ( the unhurt, my heart). And for that, I'm grateful. Ive included some of the songs and lyrics that have been part of my young adulthood into this post. These songs came at times in my life that were extremely tough, or difficult to express with my own words. In a way, you could say that the lyrics became my voice by proxy. Of course there are many more songs that are of way more significance to me, but the magic of that music, has to be kept to myself. I cant give too much away. Its like tearing out a piece of my soul.  But i can tell you, that the lyrics here, have definitely been real for me at some point or the other. It has always been comforting to know that somewhere out there the brilliant musicians, that put their thoughts to paper, have been through some of the  very things I have. They remind me that I am in fact, never really alone. Thank you all.

This ain't for the best
My reputation's never been worse, so
You must like me for me...
We can't make
Any promises now, can we, babe?
But you can make me a drink...

I was younger then, take me back to when I
Found my heart and broke it here
Made friends and lost them through the years
And I've not seen the roaring fields in so long, I know I've grown
But I can't wait to go home
Ed Sheeran
You might just be too, nervous
You feel like trust is, worse than
Just being alone
We all get insecure, it's true, it's cool
'Cause I feel like you do
I feel like you do (I feel like you do, I feel like you do)
Just like you do
How could it be? 20 something
All alone still, not a phone in my name
Ain't got nothin', runnin' from love
Only know fear
That's me, Ms. 20 Something
Ain't got nothin', runnin' from love
Wish you were here, oh

Stuck in them 20 somethings,
Good luck on them 20 somethings,
God bless these 20 somethings
Hopin' my 20 somethings won't end
Hopin' to keep the rest of my friends
Prayin' the 20 somethings don't kill me

And oh I've known it for the longest time
And all of my hopes
All of my own words
Are all over written on the signs
But you're on my road
Walking me home

And ohhh I've only caused you pain
I know but all of my words will always below
Of all the love you spoke
When you're on my road
Walking me home

See the flames inside my eyes
It burns so bright I wanna' feel your love
Easy baby maybe I'm a liar
But for tonight I wanna' fall in love
Put your faith in my stomach
Ed Sheeran
Tears at a funeral, tears at a funeral, I might break
Angry at all the things, angry at all the things I can't change
When you're lost in the universe, lost in the universe
Don't lose faith
My mother says, "Your whole life's in the hand of God"
Jon Bellion
Now it's getting quiet here, now it's getting blue
And this baby ain't no fair, taking up my youth
You've been telling me some lies, I be thinking it's the truth
But I see it in your eyes, the things that you do

Even though I've run away, I still come back
No there's nothing more to say, it's all been said
I've been trying to explain the things we had
To all of my friends who say that I've gone mad

I don't wanna waste no time all alone
Want somewhere to go, something to call my own
And I ain't satisfied
Where to go?
Lost out on the road, washed up on the shore

And I've been through mountains and seas
Tryna get you to come back to me
And I've been far, and I've been so deep
Now I find it harder and harder to breathe
And I need some new love
Dua Lipa
"Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye."

Regina Spektor
"Right now, I'm in a state of mind
I wanna be in, like, all the time
Ain't got no tears left to cry
So I'm pickin' it up, pickin' it up
I'm lovin', I'm livin', I'm pickin' it up
Oh, I just want you to come with me
We're on another mentality
Ain't got no tears left to cry
So I'm pickin' it up, pickin' it up
I'm lovin', I'm livin', I'm pickin' it up"
